AERC Annual Meetings

WHAT ARE AERC ANNUAL MEETINGS?

Connecting for Change

The annual congressional briefings, symposia and workshops encapsulate AERC's mission of  promoting ecosystem science to help solve society’s pressing environment problems. These events bring together policymakers, managers, researchers, students, and other professionals to facilitate an exchange of ideas and information directed towards creating meaningful change.

Each year, the AERC Board of Directors (with input from the AIBS Policy Office) develops an exciting set of activities for members for the Fall Annual Meeting in Washington, DC. The annual business meeting has been coupled with research symposia and congressional briefings, communications workshops, and most recently, a panel discussion with federal funding agency program officers. These latter events are especially designed for early career faculty and post-docs to develop a network and community of scientists in their fields.

The annual AERC meeting in Washington encompasses not only the AERC annual business meeting, but also a congressional briefing sponsored by AIBS. This briefing is meant to highlight the importance of ecosystem science with respect to a current policy issue under debate in Congress.  Dues from Institutional members support these activities and thus are provided for free to active members; we encourage you to attend the meeting and events in support of ecosystem research.
